Students at Shippensburg Area Senior High School explore new artistic ground every day in Media Arts class. The class, open to all levels of art students, was created as a general digital art course in 2015, but it has evolved into a student-driven course in which students design and propose their own digitally-derived art projects investigating a broad range of personal subjects. Using an ever-growing and evolving arsenal of digital tools, students in Media Arts research and design their projects and then propose them to the teacher. After going through a final revision cycle and obtaining approval, they execute the project and reflect on their successes and areas open to improvement. Through the process, they learn lessons about their subject matter, working and creating, authentic artistic expression, working with digital tools, and about themselves. Interested students who satisfactorily complete Media Arts and would like to pursue further studies in greater depth may elect Media Arts II.

From keeping in touch with relatives, to having a class or business meeting, we've learned a lot about truly activating the potential of computing devices. In terms of art-making, there are thousands of options out there, but here are some we've found to be among our best free options, tested under fire during the pandemic. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO
