artrageous 2026
march 12 at sashs!
Art by Sunny Powell, Class of '26.
The SASD Art Department celebrated its Annual ARTRAGEOUS at Shippensburg Area High School in the evening of March 12.
A celebration of the year's best art from K-12, the event was free and open to the public. It featured an exhibit of SASD student art from every district school building, K to12, as well as art demonstrations, face painting, and kids' activities by the SASHS Chapter of the National Art Honor Society. The SASHS Alzheimer's Awareness Club attended with an informational booth and interactive activity. This year, ARTRAGEOUS was followed immediately by the SASD's EVENING OF JAZZ concert in the SASHS auditorium!
Hundreds of students, families, teachers, administrators, and community members attended both events. It is a wonderful time in which we are fortunate to see many returning SASD art alumni, often celebrating their own children's artwork!
Formerly Evening with the Arts, the event was renamed Artrageous in the early 2000’s by elementary art teacher Cynthia Dobson, and is the latest incarnation of Shippensburg School District’s celebration of the arts, stretching back decades. The concept was originally developed by art teacher Mrs. Becky Myers (retired), Mr. Charles Bailey (retired) of the Technology Education Department, and the late Mrs. Joanne Ketterer, teacher of Family Consumer Science. Over the years, the visual art event evolved and eventually separated from the Practical Arts. In total, Evening With The Arts/Artrageous events are a Shippensburg tradition dating back nearly 50 years!
We are pleased to continue this Shippensburg tradition and hope you'll join us in 2027 for our next ARTRAGEOUS!

The pandemic taught us a lot about using our computers to do every kind of activity from home. From keeping in touch with relatives, to having a class or business meeting, we've learned a lot about truly activating the potential of computing devices. In terms of art-making, there are thousands of options out there, but here are some we've found to be among our best free options, tested under fire during the pandemic. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO
