GRAPHIC DESIGN ENRICHMENT
With Mr. Martin
Hello, Graphic Design students! We certainly live in interesting times. Please know that I'm thinking of you and that I would much rather be doing this face-to-face, but it is most important for everyone's health and safety that we follow the Governor's lead, his orders, and his suggestions. I want to get back to school as quickly as possible, so please make sure you are doing your part to make that happen by following the social distancing guidelines that our health officials recommend. And thank you so much for all that you did right before we left to prepare for this possibility and to make your public service announcement artwork for the school. Above and beyond, folks, and much appreciated.
Our Enrichment Program and the 3rd Marking Period
Please know that, at least for now, I will not be requiring or grading these enrichment activities. I hope you decide to join me. I've been cooped up for a long time and I'm excited to teach! I promise that you'll learn about topics and techniques that are relevant to your art class. I'll be standing by to support and guide you so that you can have success and fun doing them. I really am happy to re-engage with you, even if it's not in-person.

How will we get help?
I will use a combination of methods to keep you in the loop and feeling supported. They will center on Google Classroom as the primary place to get information. We will likely use a variety of other ways to communicate including Zoom video meetings, email, and other services, too.
The link to a Zoom video meeting has been provided for a short kick off meeting which will take place at 10:30 am on Monday. I will explain the assignment and discuss the format of the enrichment. After the kickoff meeting, I will post a link to Zoom office hours. I will be available for office ours beginning on Tuesday from 9am to 10 am to provide more help and feedback and will be available to your class from 9am to 10am on Tuesday and Thursday until the end of the marking period (date not yet decided). You can work at your own pace to complete the activities and I will stand by to assist/answer questions.
How will we get materials and apps necessary to do the work?
As I mentioned before we left, there are many different applications that are available to you for your desktop computer or Chromebook that will work for our graphic design activities. AND... if you are using a desktop computer, I have some great news: the Adobe Creative Suite is available to you free for a limited time. This is part of Adobe's plan to help students during the COVID-19 crisis. I am working on getting you the necessary information to get the Adobe Creative Suite for free (until May).
What about Marking Period 3 Grades?
Well, that's a great question and we still don't have answers for you (or me) about that. Currently, your grades are up-to-date with what I have for you. I don't know how marking period 3 will be resolved, but as soon as I do, I will let you know. UPDATE: The marking period will end on April 7, 2020. No work beyond your Health and Safety PSA's will be graded.

- Activities will be posted in writing and with supplemental videos, articles, etc. on Google Classroom
- I will provide group video chats using Zoom periodically to explain a process and to answer your questions. In Zoom, just like in class, you can ask your questions to me directly.
- I will keep video/chat "office hours" for my classes. During that time, you can click on the link and be connected to me, either on video or by chat. Your class's "office hours" will be posted in Google Classroom- Office hours and the link will not change until the official end of the marking period (not yet known).
- You can message me through Classroom with a Class Comment or Private Message
- You can email me your question at [email protected]. PLEASE BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME IN THE SUBJECT LINE and email me using your school Gmail.
